Why Do the Brakes Not Work to Stop My Door From Sliding

If the brakes don’t work to stop the door from sliding for your PULSE 500 Series door operator, it is because there are no physical brakes to stop the door from sliding. We use auto-locking worm gearboxes that should not be able to be back-driven.
If the door is sliding or slamming at its Open/Close limit, then follow the next steps to solve the issue:

Balance the door:

  • A possible cause is that the door is very unbalanced.
  • Perform a BALANCE CHECK-UP from the Advanced Menu to determine whether to tighten or loosen the springs:
    • If the Open value is higher than the Close value, then tighten the springs;
    • If the Close value is higher than the Open value, then loosen the springs.

Use the DYNAMIC BRAKE feature:

  • Use the DYNAMIC BRAKE feature, which is an electronic braking system that slows down the door before it reaches its Open and Close limits to help prevent the door from slamming. This feature can be turned on in the Advanced Menu.
  • It is still recommended to balance the door by tightening or loosening the springs.
